Soundwave is always at Megatron’s side as Communications Officer and Spy-Master and is often relied upon by the Decpeticon leader to find out what strategies are being formed buy Autobots and Decpeticons alike. Soundwave has risen through the ranks of the Decepticons and fiercely defends his position.

Soundwave posseses the ability to read minds of not only other transformers, but also those of other organic life forms such as humans. This is achieved by monitoring their electro brain impulses and deciphering these to allow him to read their thoughts. Soundwave will not hesitate to use this information for his own gain or to blackmail in order to advance his own status. This tendency has not made him favorable with other Decepticons who do not trust his motives or the fact that he will use blackmail against them.
