Description

Hufflepuff was founded by the medieval witch, Helga Hufflepuff who was one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hufflepuff values dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play in its members. The House crest consists of Yellow, which represents wheat and black which serves to show soil. The Hufflepuff colours were chosen to roughly correspond with the elements of earth and also hints at the houses members exceptional aptitude towards Herbology. The Crest also depicts a badger which is the house’s chosen symbol.

Hufflepuff is headed by Madam Professor Pomona Sprout who is also the head of Herbology at Hogwarts. Professor Sprout attended Hogwarts in her youth and was placed in Hufflepuff by the sorting hat where she excelled at Herbology. Following her graduation, Professor Sprout spent some time away before returning to teach at Hogwarts. As with all Hogwarts houses there is a patron Ghost which is known as the Fat Friar.
