Description
Obi-Wan Kenobi is a prominent Jedi in the Star Wars series, having appeared in some form in every film in the original and prequel trilogies.
In the first Star Wars film to be released, A New Hope, Obi-Wan is an old man who goes by the name Ben, and is played by Alec Guinness.
He goes on to train the hero of the trilogy, Luke Skywalker, in the ways of the Force, until Obi-Wan is struck down by Darth Vader, his former student.
The prequel series reveals that Obi-Wan, played by Ewan McGregor, took Darth Vader, then known as Anakin Skywalker, under his wing and trained him as a Jedi.
As the prequel trilogy plays out, Obi-Wan develops a close bond with Anakin, which makes Anakin’s eventual turn to the dark side – and the epic lightsaber battle which follows – all the more emotional.
